How to Get to Gabriola Island: Located off the coastline of Nanaimo, BC only 110 km (68 mi) drive north of Victoria BC on Hwy 1 to the BC Ferry Terminal that takes you over to Gabriola Island. During your scenic road trip to Gabriola Island from Victoria you will see the Cowichan Valley with it's native influences, Chemainus BC with it's World Famous Murals and Ladysmith BC on the 49th parallel. Downtown Nanaimo is where you hook up with the BC Ferry system to take you to the GUlf Islands. Follow the well marked signs. Nanaimo has BC Ferry service from Nanaimo Harbour to Descanso Bay on Gabriola Island with a sailing time of 20 min. Also accessed by chartered float planes and boating enthusiasts. |
