Galiano Island BC is the closest island of the Gulf Islands to the city of Vancouver on the mainland. From the shores of Galiano BC, many times, the view is so expansive one can see the peak of Mount Baker in Washington State. From different viewing points on Galiano Island one can see Gossip Island, Mayne Island , Valdes Island, Wallace Island, Ballingall Islets and Parker Island.

Galiano Island BC area is prime for sea kayaking because of the many coves, bays, islets and neighbouring islands in the area. Off the coastlines of the island there are sailboats, and yachts playing in the wind. Scuba Divers come to explore the reefs swimming under the shouldering sandstone cliffs. Galiano Island centre of activity is Sturdies Bay with shops and convenience store.
