- Boyle Point Regional Park. A 1.7 km (1 mi.) short walking hike to the hills and a view overlooking Gravelly Bay and the lighthouse on Chrome
Island. The hike may be short but the beach access trail of Boyle Point Regional Park is for the healthy, in shape, hiker as the drop
down to the shoreline is steep and the hike up is a work out. Located via the forested
trail at the south end of East Road on Denman Island.
- Chrome Island Lighthouse. On the west coast, some of our most historic structures are the lighthouses. At the end of the trail in Boyle Point Regional Park is the spanning ocean views and a look at on of those lighthouses, the Chrome Island Lighthouse. Access from Boyle Point Regional Park at the south end of East
Road.
- Fillongley Provincial Park. On Denman
Island following the east coastline is a 23-hectare park with easy grade forested walking
trails called Fillongley Provincial Park. The Park is a fabulous spot to visit to view the salmon spawning stream of Little George Creek. Fillongley Provincial Park has picnic tables, fire pits and outhouses.
- Helliwell Provincial Park. Hornby Island has a beautiful park in Helliwell Provincial Park. The beach is cloaked
in wildflowers, hidden away in the seaside bluffs and forested
shorelines of south Hornby Island. Helliwell Provincial Park guards the
northern entrance to Tribune Bay, and sits on a headland
known as St. John Point. Popular for bird watching and is a popular area for Cormorant
nesting and eagles patrolling the sky. The Helliwell Provincial Park Trail is a 3-mile (5-km) loop
trail along bluffs, through forested areas and wildflower
fields on south Hornby Island.
- Little George Creek. Inside the forest walls of Fillongley Provincial Park is a trail leading to Little George
Creek. Little George
Creek is a spawning ground for Salmon accessed by a short
series of hiking trails through a lush forest and thick
undergrowth. Little George
Creek is located in Fillongley Provincial Park on Denman
Island.
- Little Tribune Bay. This is a great little beach to soak up some sun. Beach combers beware as some of us locals like to shed some clothes on this beach.
Tribune Bay also has some wild hoodoo rock formations
that are a big draw for camera buffs. Little Tribune Bay on Hornby Island is accessible by road and boat.
- Longbeak Point. Sea shells and sand dollars
decorate this north end spit of Denman Island as it bends
out towards Sandy Island (sometimes referred to as Tent
Island). Longbeak Point is surrounded by, mostly, shallow waters and at low tides one can walk out
to the island. Shorebirds and marine life inhabit the
area. Prime bird watching territory.
- Norris Rocks. Off the southern tip of Hornby Island is a popular sun tanning area for Sea Lions. If the season is right and you have access to a boat or a charter the Norris Rocks is worth a look. Follow the barking
sounds to the sea lions.
- Sandy Island Provincial Marine Park. Located at the north end of Denman
Island Sandy Island Provincial Marine Park is a treat for waders of all ages at low tide because you can wade out to the bird watching of Longbeak Point. Camp among the cluster of trees,
under the stars on a beach mattress. Bring some water
and cook stove.
- Tribune Bay. A very popular area on Hornby Island for families and exploring as Tribune Bay is a playground for swimming and for admiring
the hoodoo formations of the surrounding rock clefts left from time on the
sandy beach.
- Whaling Station Bay. A great place for kids to play
because the waters are protected and shallow. Beautiful
sandy beaches and mellow tides, yet room for exploration.
