Mayne Island in the Gulf Islands is located between Galiano and Saturna Island. Access to the Pacific Ocean is everywhere on this 23 square kilometre island. A smaller island, Mayne reaps the benefit of enjoying a comfortable, serene environment surrounded by neighbouring islands and islets, ancient forests and marine sea-life include; seals, sea lions and whales patrolling the surrounding shores off the coastlines.

The village has the basic amenities like a convenience store, restaurants, coffee houses and a gas station. A permanent population of 900 people enjoy the serenity of Mayne Island year round. Lush in forests with lots of green space complimented by wildflowers colouring the shores like wild native roses and rare orchids. The forests of Mayne Island are heavily treed with plenty of Douglas Fir, Red Cedar and Arbutus trees – one of our favourites because of the peeling bark.

Located between Galiano and Saturna Island fronting Navy Channel stopping just short of Haro Strait north of the San Juan Islands. When visiting Mayne take some quality time and explore Georgina Point Heritage Park and the Lighthouse where you can sit and lookout over the miles of ocean waters. Enjoy some of the exploratory walks and trails in Mount Parke Park or head out to the point out by Beechwood Drive for some views near St John Point. There is also the Gulf Island National Park Reserve with a trail that leads you to Campbell Point looking out over Georgeson Island.

How to Get to Mayne Island, B.C., Canada:  To access Mayne Island is best accomplished via a BC Ferry or by float plane with one of the air charter companies servicing the Gulf Islands from Victoria, BC and Vancouver. The southern Gulf islands has an interesting scenic BC Ferry schedule and routes so please plan your routes accordingly and particularly take notice of the departure and arrival times. The BC Ferry Terminals in Sidney by the Sea, BC just north of Victoria, BC and the Tsawwassen BC Ferry Terminal out of Vancouver on the mainland have routes running to Village Bay BC Ferry Terminal on Mayne Island. Many of the surrounding Islands like Galiano, Pender, Saturna and Saltspring also have routes available taking you to Village Bay on Mayne Island. The crossing time depends on which Gulf Islands route you select.
