| Prior Centennial Park Prior Centennial Park is a campground park located on North Pender Island popular for forest views, camping and hiking. The park, just recently, became part of the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve. The campground park is the only public campground with drive-in access on the Pender Islands. The 16 hectare park is nestled in a forest of alder, fir and cedar trees. Campsites are shaded and include picnic tables and fire pits. There are pit toilets, fresh water taps and camping fees in this park. The Heart Trail is in the Prior Centennial Park. It is a one-way 1 kilometre hiking trail that connects to other hiking trails leading into the back country on North Pender Island. The hike is consider an easy forest hike with just a couple of small hills to climb. The hiking trail heads west and eventually crosses Ketch Road before connecting to a disc golf course and two other hiking trails exploring further towards Bosuns Way. How to Get to Prior Centennial Park Travel to the Pender Islands in the Gulf Islands via a BC Ferry. Follow Canal Road on North Pender Island towards Bedwell Harbour. The park entrance is on Canal Road. |
