Sointula, Malcolm Island BC Canada: A relaxing island get-a-way for those seeking exceptional quiet time, rejuvenation, and special
moments surrounded by beaches, sand and coastal scenery. Located off the shores of Port McNeill, Sointula ( a Finnish word meaning harmony ) on Malcolm Island is blessed with small town hospitality, miles of sandy beaches decorated in driftwood populated with a wide variety of marine wildlife. Proud of it's deep heritage of Finnish heritage, this (non-ATM machine island) void of big city amenities is a destination for those individuals seeking self fulfillment and self discovery. Come and enjoy, what the Locals have known for centuries, the peaceful surroundings of Sointula. Take a day trip of exploration and education to the manned lighthouse on Pultenay Point, the beautiful Bay Trail, the Mateoja Heritage Trail or take a trip into the past at the local museum. Sointula's settlement is based on the utopian values of the early Finnish settlers developing into a haven for relaxation, walks on the beach, hiking and walking, world renown scuba diving and canoeing and kayaking among the coves and inlets of Malcolm Island.

How to Get to Sointula British Columbia, Canada:  Sointula on Malcolm Island is located off the shores of Port McNeill, 463 km (287 mi) north of Victoria. Again... we must suggest the Hwy 19A (Oceanside Route) whenever possible traveling north by car. The Oceanside Route ends in Campbell River and continues on as Hwy 19 ( North Island Hwy). A scenic tour of the absolute most rugged West Coast wilderness on Vancouver Island. An enjoyable, worth every extra mile, a sit back and cruise for 200 km (124 mi) adventure through vast rainforests with thick lush undergrowth, rumbling over bridges protecting rushing rivers, cutting through valleys and along mountain ridges weaving in and around the cavernous mountain ranges until you arrive to the ocean front community of Port McNeill located just off Highway 19. Located only 50 km (31 mi) south of Port Hardy in Port McNeill is the Ferry Terminal that takes you to Sointula, on Malcolm Island and Alert Bay on Cormorant Island.
